Over the weekend we had some friends come over for dinner. I wanted to bake a quick, simple dessert since we didn’t have a ton of time and I didn’t want my oven to heat our entire house too long in 90 degree weather. This recipe came from my mother and I have been making it for years. You can mix and match the berries or use different fruits depending on what you like.
Blackberry Crisp

Blackberry Crisp
Ingredients:
- 2 16 oz packages Frozen Blackberries
–> You can use fresh blackberries but keep in mind it will be much runnier because of the juices, you will need three containers fresh blackberries. You can also mix up your fruits. Typically I use 1 package boysenberries and 1 package blackberries to make it a little more tart. You can also use apples, blueberries, peaches…you name it!
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 4 tbsp butter, softened
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a bowl combine sugar, flour and butter. Using a fork mix the butter into the flour and sugar mix to form small clumps. Once thoroughly mixed set aside. Place your blackberries in a 9 x 9 or 8 x8 baking dish that has been sprayed with a greaser like Pam (alternatively you can line your baking dish with tin foil). Spread out the blackberries evenly throughout the dish. Pour your flour and sugar mixture over the berries, covering them. Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes.
Serve hot, with a side of vanilla ice cream if you prefer, and enjoy.

this looks delicious, Lanaya!
