Fairytales, Animals and Slides

My truly terrible headache is at the base of my skull and ready to explode at any minute so I’m going to get this post written now before I can’t. Yesterday if you read my post Headache From Hell you know that I didn’t intend to write that yesterday. Instead I wanted to tell you all about Fairytales and animals. Next to our zoo there is a small theme park called Fairytale Town. A quaint place that intertwines a sort of petting zoo with fairytale characters and habitats. For example, the Old Woman in the Shoe…she has a huge boot that has been converted into a slide for the kids. The Three Little Pigs are three pot belly pigs running around their fenced in area with small houses made to look like straw, sticks and bricks. It’s quite cute.

Reagan likes to go to Fairytale Town because she gets to see all the different animals and even pet some if they come close enough to the fences. We got to pet the sheep this time around. Or should I say, Little Bo Beep’s sheep. She yells at the Three Billy Goats Gruff because they never entertain her calling to them.

Her favorite part of Fairytale Town are the slides and Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage. There are several slides in the park. One of her favorites belongs to Mr. Owl..Winnie the Pooh’s friend. It has a big staircase she has to climb into a tree house with a winding slide that goes down. She will go on it over and over and over again. It’s a but daunting to let her tackle the staircase all by herself but she’s a pro at it now.

About half hour before we left she was hanging out in Cinderella’s carriage and a little girl named Madison came over and started talking to her. She was there with her grandparents and was five years old. Within minutes they were best friends chasing each other around the carriage. They ran around the park like two squirrels chasing each other and had a ball. Their quick companionship was so cute to see. Reagan would run around chasing Madison all the while calling out her name and vice versa. The sat in the carriage together and clapped their hands together. They climbed Jack’s Beanstalk and went down the slides together. They instantly bonded.

That is what got me thinking yesterday in the shower as I was trying to get some relief from my pounding headache. Maybe Reagan shouldn’t be an only child. She is the type of girl that flourishes in social situations. She loves going to preschool and interacting with the other kids. Perhaps it is in the cards for Brian and I to have another child. Not anytime soon of course. Holy hell I have a half marathon to run next week! But maybe…

There used to be a place like that when I was a little kid. Through the years it got very run down and torn apart. Eventually they closed it up.

I hope they have some place like that again for my little guy.
