Tag! You’re It Christmas Style

I absolutely love Christmas! It is my favorite holiday. As a little kid I was never allowed to celebrate Christmas because of our religion. We didn’t believe in it and I was unable to participate in any Christmas tradition. No tree, no lights, no gifts, no music. Nothing. It was not allowed. For me, I decided I wanted to live life differently and I embraced a new way of life when I was 16. I was going to have Christmas, dammit!

My husband still makes fun of me because to this day I still have not seen A Christmas Story, I don’t know the words to many of the Christmas carols and until two years ago I hadn’t seen any of the original Christmas movies. You know…Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Claus is coming to Town. I didn’t know any of them. But all of that is changing this year. I have a daughter who is super excited about our Christmas tree, our hanging stockings, the lights around the windows and our festive decorations.

There is something about “Christmas Eve Sarajevo” from the TransSiberian Orchestra that just pumps me up! So because of things like this I wanted to know more about how other people celebrate Christmas and what fun traditions they partake in.

Welcome to Tag! You’re it ~ Christmas Style!

TagChristmas

My goal is to get this to hop around all the different blogs and have everyone learn something about the blogs and people they follow ~ Christmas Style! So … pick five bloggers that you want to know more about their Christmas traditions. Tag the bloggers you picked and have them write up a post with the answers to 5 questions that you want to know about. Make sure you link back to Raising Reagan so we can all check out which blogs have participated and all say Hello! Make sure you do an initial post with the questions answered and then TAG your next five bloggers!

My questions to my five bloggers ~

1. What makes Christmas such a special holiday for you and your family?

It is my favorite holiday as I mentioned earlier. Being able to celebrate in the joy of the season makes me happy. Having a daughter to share it with, especially now that she is really getting into it makes it even better. I am addicted to the smell of Christmas, the cinnamon, the peppermint. I love Christmas lights, trees and music. I love Christmas music!

2. Were you told the truth about Santa Claus by your parents or did you find out another way? And..do you plan on lying to your kids (if you have them or plan on having them)? Oh yes…I went there. :)

Because we never celebrated Christmas I was told that Santa Claus was made up and never really existed. That it was a way for parents to bribe their children into being good. Yes, I am planning on lying to Reagan about Santa. In fact this year we got Elf on a Shelf and I’ve already started the “You better be good, the Elf is watching and she’s gonna report back to Santa!”

3. Real tree or Fake tree?

Fake ~ Hello? Clean freak with OCD…I am not vacuuming every day because the pine needles keep falling off! But…I love the smell of a fresh pine tree.

4. Do you open presents on Christmas morning, Christmas Eve or both?

One on Christmas Eve, the rest Christmas morning.

5. What is your favorite Christmas movie to watch? Favorite Christmas song to sing or listen to? ( I know…technically two questions)

Little Women (Ok, not technically a Christmas movie ~ but I love to watch it at Christmas time!) Without a doubt my favorite Christmas Song is Do You Hear What I Hear.

  7. What a good idea for a post!! Love it. We did celebrate Christmas, but I wasn't allowed to believe in Santa so I'm kind of excited to do the whole Santa thing with my son : ) I believe in keeping the Christ in Christmas, but I don't see anything wrong with a little bit of Santa mixed in too : )

    • I'm super excited to do Santa with Reagan too. She's already so excited about Pia, her elf that keeps showing up to keep an eye on her! Thank you for coming by and commenting :)

In your defense, Frosty the Snowman is a hard song to learn. I was thinking about that…I don't think I know the lyrics to it either!

    • Thank you! I thought some of them would take me a while to get. Then again I have a two year old that is a walking parrot all the sudden so maybe I'll learn the lyrics rather quickly! Thanks for coming by!
