Tips for Having a Catered Party at Home

So, you’ve got an event that you want to celebrate except you’re having the event in your home and you don’t feel like cooking for it. What do you do? Refuse to serve food and have everyone leave early because they’re hungry?

There is no need to alienate your party guests. You can hire a catering service to take care of all the important details such as preparing, cooking, and even serving the food if you want. If this is your first time entertaining the idea, there are some things you can do to ensure the success of the event in your home.

Here are some tips for having a catered party at home

:

Keep in mind space constraints. Allow the caterers to arrive and set up at least an hour before everyone is due to arrive. Talk about clean-up.

  • Keep in mind space constraints. You don’t want a buffet-style set-up in a small apartment with multiple guests. This could mean disaster quick. Consider the types of foods that would work well in the space you have. Think about electrical outlets and make sure that the catering company has access to some if you plan to serve hot food. If your kitchen is large enough for some prep work to be done in it, let the caterers know.
  • Allow the caterers to arrive and set up at least an hour before everyone is due to arrive. This gives you plenty of time to get everything ready for your guests so that they’re able to mingle without interruption. They can grab something to eat, pull up a seat in your home, and enjoy the experience. Having servers available to refill empty serving plates helps tremendously. You can even request that they wear something personal for the occasion such as a t-shirt with the guest of honor’s name on it or “Happy 50th Anniversary,” whatever the case may be.
  • Talk about clean-up. Is there an extra charge to have the company handle cleaning up for you? Are you willing to gather a few friends and do it yourself? Whichever option you choose, you’re going to need to take care of the mess as soon as you can because you won’t want to think about it the next day.

A catered event at home has its advantages. First, you don’t have to prepare food, set-up or even clean-up after your guests because many catering companies do that for you. Next, you get to give your family, friends or co-workers a truly enjoyable experience filled with food, laughter, and great conversation. It’s something that they’ll never forget and even look forward to the next catered event you host in your home.
